Georgia Teen Accused of Gunning Down 16-Year-Old Girl Waiting for Uber After Taunting Her About Her Boyfriend’s Death, Police Say

CLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA — A 16-year-old Georgia girl waiting quietly for her Uber with her earphones in was shot and killed by a 15-year-old boy who police say was “angry” and taunting her for mourning her deceased boyfriend. The shocking teen murder unfolded on November 27, moments after a Thanksgiving gathering.

The victim, Taylor Hamilton, was standing outside a Clayton County home when the teenage suspect allegedly confronted her, mocked her over her boyfriend’s death, and ultimately opened fire — killing her “in cold blood,” her mother says.

Mother Says Teens Were Angry About Taylor Keeping Her Boyfriend’s Memory Alive

Taylor’s mother, Nandi Hamilton, told WSB-TV that her daughter had been targeted for refusing to stop honoring her boyfriend’s name.

Hamilton said:

They were mad about her keeping her boyfriend’s name alive and they didn’t like that.

Doorbell camera video reviewed by WSB shows Taylor sitting alone, wearing earphones, waiting for her Uber that was “five minutes away,” her mother said.

“She’s sitting there with her earphones on,” Hamilton explained, showing the footage.

She described the teenage shooter as:

A monster. He shot her in cold blood.

Doorbell Camera Shows Teen Boy Taunting Taylor Before Pulling Out Gun

Police say doorbell footage reveals the moments that led to the fatal shooting. According to WSB-TV, the 15-year-old suspect began taunting Taylor, becoming increasingly angry as she ignored him.

The footage allegedly shows the gun being brandished.

Taylor reportedly responded:

I don’t care about no gun.

Police say Taylor then turned her attention away, but the teens kept taunting her. When she stepped closer to the boy during the confrontation, the teenage suspect opened fire.

Mother Believes Her Daughter Was Set Up

Hamilton believes Taylor was lured to the gathering so teens could confront her over ongoing disputes about her boyfriend’s memory.

She told reporters:

I feel sorry for him that he’s that cold. To do something so monstrous.

I don’t know how he was that angry to pull out a gun and shoot her.

Police say the shooting appeared to be intentional and fueled by anger and group pressure among the teens.

He is charged with:

  • Malice murder

  • Possession of a firearm by someone under 16
  • Possession of a firearm during a felony

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more teens may be questioned as potential witnesses.

Taylor’s mother says the family is devastated and preparing for a funeral they never imagined.
