Missouri Woman Uses ChatGPT-Generated Email to Escape Violent Trafficker Who Strangled Her and Held Knife to Toddler’s Throat, Police Say

MISSOURI — A woman in Kansas City reportedly used a ChatGPT-generated email to trick her trafficker and escape after enduring days of strangulation, assault, forced prostitution, and threats against her 1-year-old son, according to newly filed court records. The suspect, 37-year-old Jacquan Wilson, now faces a long list of felony charges as prosecutors detail a disturbing pattern of violence and control.

Police: Victim Met Suspect on Facebook, Then Was Forced Into Prostitution

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by KCTV, the victim told investigators she met Wilson through Facebook in early September. Shortly after, the two moved into an extended-stay motel, where Wilson allegedly arranged for her to have sex with multiple men per day.

Police say the victim reported that beginning around Sept. 23, Wilson became increasingly violent — punching, kicking, and strangling her repeatedly. In several attacks, she said she lost consciousness, a key indicator of life-threatening strangulation.

Knife Held to Toddler’s Throat During a FaceTime Call

The affidavit describes a particularly horrifying moment in which Wilson allegedly held a knife to the throat of the victim’s 1-year-old son while on FaceTime. Authorities say the threat appeared intended to terrify and further control the victim.

Investigators state that Wilson also forced her to continue having sex with men even after she told him she had suffered a miscarriage.

ChatGPT Becomes Her Escape Tool

On Sept. 26, the victim found a way out — using ChatGPT to generate a convincing email that stated she needed to return a rental car at Kansas City International Airport.

Believing the email was legitimate, Wilson allowed her to go.

Once she arrived at the airport, the woman contacted police and her family, leading to her immediate rescue.

Victim Was Injured, Distressed, and “Defeated,” Detectives Say

Investigators who interviewed the victim said she suffered visible injuries and appeared emotionally exhausted and defeated after the ordeal. Officers noted that her statements were consistent with sustained physical abuse and sex trafficking, according to the affidavit.

Suspect Facing Numerous Felonies

Wilson was arrested by the Kansas City Police Department on Sept. 27. He is charged with:

• Sex trafficking
• Promoting prostitution
• Domestic assault
• Endangering the welfare of a child

He is currently being held without bond in the Platte County Jail.
